Job description

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Tech Lead who excels in Java development to drive innovation in our commercial channels and product offerings. In this role, you will harness Java and its ecosystem to build high-performance, secure, and scalable systems. Your expertise in Agile practices, performance optimization, and modern development tools will be crucial in leading a dynamic team and elevating our technology standards.


Your responsibilities:

  • Technical Leadership:

Provide expert guidance to the Java development team by championing best practices, design patterns, and robust software architecture.

  • Collaboration & Requirement Gathering:

Work closely with stakeholders—including product managers, designers, and other technical teams—to gather requirements and ensure project alignment with overall business goals.

  • Coding & Quality Assurance:

Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code while adhering to industry standards.

Conduct code reviews to uphold high-quality coding standards and ensure consistency across the team’s output.

  • Problem Resolution & Continuous Improvement:

Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical challenges, ensuring applications remain performant, reliable, and bug-free.

Stay up to date with the latest trends and technologies in Java development and advocate for continuous improvement of development processes and tools.

  • Mentorship:

Mentor and guide junior developers, fostering their technical growth and deepening their understanding of Java development and security best practices.

  • Project Contribution:

Collaborate actively in the development process to ensure timely delivery of high-quality software that meets project deadlines and business needs.

  • Agile Development:

Actively participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure continuous progress and team alignment.

  • Performance Optimization:

Regularly assess and fine-tune application performance, ensuring systems are responsive, scalable, and reliable. Use performance testing tools to validate improvements.

  • Security & Web Services:

Prioritize application security in all development efforts, particularly when designing and implementing web services, to ensure data protection and regulatory compliance.

  • Innovation:

Stay current with the latest Java technologies and industry trends. Proactively propose and integrate new tools or improvements that can enhance our systems.

  • Transparent Communication:

Regularly update the team on project progress, challenges, and insights, ensuring clear and effective communication across all levels.

Job requirements

  • Experience:

Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience as a Java Developer with a strong track record in building high-performance applications.

  • Technical Expertise:
    • Deep proficiency in Java and its related ecosystems, particularly:
      • Spring Boot
      • Hibernate/JPA
      • Web services development
    • Solid experience with development and testing tools including JUnit, Maven, Jenkins, Sonar, and GIT for version control.
    • Strong understanding and practical application of performance optimization techniques and software security principles.
  • Methodology:

Proven experience working in Agile environments with a focus on iterative, performance-driven development.

  • Leadership & Communication:

Excellent leadership skills with the ability to mentor and collaborate effectively within a team.

Stellar communication skills, capable of simplifying complex technical topics for diverse audiences.

  • Additional Skills:

Capacity to manage multiple tasks in high-pressure situations while adapting fluidly to a dynamic environment.

Fluency in Dutch or French, as well as English, is required.
