As NMBS- SNCB’s IT company, YPTO is part of the Belgian Railway family making sure that the Belgian railways continue to move forward and the train passengers can travel in a modern and sustainable way.

The recently approved NMBS-SNCB « Rail Vision 2040 » has the ambitious goal to make sure that more people, companies & organisations choose the train as their preferred mobility tool. Not to forget, after all, rail being the most climate-friendly mode of public transport compared to other modes of public transport today.
Next to that, in a world of modern and sustainable mobility, new services and applications using digital technology are being implemented. Leading to increased and better information and communication to rail passengers and rail crew. Setting up diverse channels for purchasing tickets, a better monitoring of assets and further increase automating operational processes. Ultimately improving efficiency and service offering.
An ambitious goal that we’re building and realising: further digitalising SNCB – NMBS, offering innovative solutions and enabling flexible services with a key focus on the end user.

The Job

We're hiring a Technical Lead proficient in .NET development to oversee our railway projects. Your role involves guiding the development process, mentoring the team, ensuring solutions meet the standards of the SNCB, and aiding in recruiting development talent. With your expertise in .NET technologies, you'll design and implement robust applications crucial for critical railway operations. Your problem-solving skills will be crucial in resolving technical challenges and optimizing system performance. As a Technical Lead you will work within the Stations area. This department manages all the applications related to building, maintaining and operating train stations and buildings.

As a Technical Lead for several ongoing projects, you will guide our offshore development teams.

Vereisten

Technical skills

  • Minimum 5+ years of development experience in Microsoft technologies
  • Strong hands-on application architecture and design patterns
  • REST APIs design expertise
  • Visual Studio 2019 onward, Visual Studio Code
  • Microsoft .Net Core web API
  • Demonstrable experience in Windows presentation foundation (WPF)
  • Node.js, Javascript, C# or Java
  • Azure API Manager, Enterprise service bus, Firewall etc.
  • MS SQL Server or Oracle databases
  • Azure DevOps, solid understating of CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience in Public Transport Sector is big plus

Soft skills

  • Professional knowledge of English and fluent user of one of the local language French or Dutch
  • You are able to lead and coach developers with different level of experience
  • You’re a team player and you like working with others
  • Strong listening & communication skills
  • Analytical thinking
  • Pragmatic & hands-on
