How do you help make a difference? 

As a Business Area Lead SAP - Train Maintenance, you are responsible for the Business Area Train Maintenance within the Solution Delivery ERP & Corporate Services (ECS) department. You lead a team of functional SAP specialists and manage both project and support activities within your Business Area. 

You contribute to the NMBS digital transformation by defining a roadmap aligned with the business strategy and ensuring its execution. Within the greenfield SAP transformation program, you take on the role of IT Process Lead and ensure the delivery of a complete, robust solution for your Business Area together with the implementation partners. 

What is your role at SNCB? 

As a Business Area Lead Train Maintenance, you will take on the following responsibilities: 

  • You define, together with NMBS (Technics), a roadmap for your Business Area aligned with business strategy, supporting digital transformation and company priorities. 

  • You ensure that decisions regarding projects within your Business Area are aligned with the long-term business and IT strategy within the greenfield SAP transformation program. 

  • You organize applications into portfolios, assign owners and backup owners, and ensure end-to-end responsibility for stability, availability, performance, and evolution. 

  • You manage stakeholder relationships (client NMBS and internal/external stakeholders) and coordinate to ensure optimal Business Area management. 

  • You assess risks, visibility, and criticality of projects, align regularly with your department head, and manage OPEX and CAPEX budgets aligned with business priorities. 

  • You ensure optimal team staffing, act as escalation point for conflicting project capacity requests, and manage, coach, and develop your team in collaboration with HR.

Why is this job a good fit for you? 

  • You have a Master’s degree in IT, engineering, or equivalent through experience. 

  • You have at least 5 years of experience in an IT environment and experience in people management. 

You also possess these technical skills: 

  • You have strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall. 

  • You have knowledge of IT processes such as ITIL. 

  • You have functional SAP knowledge within the Train Maintenance domain, including PM, PP, PS, QM, IBP, and DM modules. 

  • You have knowledge of S/4HANA equivalents of maintenance-oriented SAP modules. 

  • You have knowledge of the SAP SaaS solution APM (Asset Performance Management). 

  • You have experience with S/4HANA implementations. 

  • You have knowledge of technologies used within the Maintenance domain, including IoT, Advanced Analytics, and Machine Learning. 

  • You have business knowledge of the Maintenance domain and maintenance strategies such as Reliability Centered Maintenance. 

  • You have experience within the railway sector. 

  • You have experience with tools such as JIRA, ServiceNow, Confluence, and SAP Solution Manager. 

And these soft skills: 

  • You are a strong people manager and communicate effectively with teams, stakeholders, and clients. 

  • You think both tactically and strategically and contribute to a clear vision for your Business Area and team. 

  • You collaborate effectively in complex multi-stakeholder environments and coordinate activities smoothly. 

  • You are pragmatic and solution-oriented in your approach. 

Asset: 

  • You are fluent in Dutch or French and you are able to use English and of the other ‘national language’ in a professional context.

You will work near Brussels-South station and join the ECS Logistics team.
