Role Overview

Within the IT division of the NMBS we are seeking a Senior Product Manager IT to join our Commercial Channels and Products team.

The successful candidate will play a key role in identifying, analyzing, and translating business needs into actionable initiatives that drive product success.

You will act as a critical bridge between business stakeholders and agile development teams, guiding the vision and ensuring continuous value delivery.

You will be responsible for a portfolio of IT Solutions which includes the management of the along coming roadmaps.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Capture and structure high-level business requirements (epics) from diverse stakeholders

  • Translate business needs into functional requirements (features) ready for agile teams

  • Write clear and structured documentation, including high-level business epics and detailed functional requirements (features)

  • Organize and lead structured workshops with clear agendas and tangible outcomes

  • Draft, maintain, and evolve IT Solution roadmaps based on business input and technical feasibility

  • Define and prioritize Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) to accelerate value delivery and validate assumptions together with the business PO

  • Collaborate closely with agile delivery teams to ensure user stories are clear, testable, and aligned with value goals

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with business and technical stakeholders to ensure continuous alignment

  • Identify risks, dependencies, and potential impacts early; propose mitigation strategies where needed

  • Support user acceptance testing (UAT) and facilitate change management efforts

  • Contribute to backlog management, refinement, and sprint planning activities

Required Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a Business Analyst, Product Manager, or similar role

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a software delivery (development) organisation

  • Strong organizational, facilitation, writing, and presentation skills

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills

  • Helicopter view

  • Proven ability to translate high-level or vague requirements into actionable deliverables

  • Skilled in distinguishing between business-level goals (epics) and functional system features

  • Excellent communication skills, with experience engaging senior business leaders and executive stakeholders

  • Experience working within agile development teams, preferably using Scrum or SAFe

  • Solid understanding of product lifecycle, MVP definition, prioritization techniques, and value delivery

  • Proficient with common agile and collaboration tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Confluence, Miro)

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, multi-stakeholder environment and manage competing priorities

  • Extensive knowledge in and practical experience with the usage of  BPMn and UM

Qualifications

  • Certification or formal training in Agile Product Management (e.g., CSPO, SAFe PM/PO, etc.)

  • Master education (or equivalent through experience)

  • Experience in digital products, customer-facing platforms, or large-scale IT transformations

  • Familiarity with Lean Business Case approaches or Value Proposition Canvas

  • Experience in an e-commerce environment is considered a must.

  • Experience within the public transport domain is considered a plus.

 

Languages

  • Proficiency in English, Dutch and French (mandatory)
