Job description

You are end-to-end responsible together with your colleague for managing the SNCB ARIS (BPM) cloud-based tool, with a focus on devising solutions via configuration or developments of questions or issues from the business process community, tracking and implementing upgrades from the vendor, registering and tracking bug reports with the vendor(s), and implementing new solutions and integrations (for data mining) with SNCB SAP applications, in-house developed applications, external software packages, databases and Azure Data Lake.

  • The new SNCB ARIS BPM tool will be implemented across all SNCB directorates for use by the shERPa (strategic horizon of the ERP analysis) program and by the Process Forum/Process Responsibles;

  • It will be up to a small team of 2 solution architects to decide how we will document and use the ARIS BPM tool within SNCB in close cooperation with the Enterprise Architects, the shERPa program team, and with the Business Process forum/Business Process Responsibles in each directorate;

  • First task will be to develop the tool’s guidelines, configure the tool in line with requirements from shERPa and business, produce eLearnings, and migrate the existing models into the new tool. This is expected to be a fulltime project until DEC 2024. This will also be the learning period for this team where they develop their knowledge of the processes and the data in the tool;
    External support (tool expert) is foreseen for a short period of time, after which the architects should be able to work out details of new functions by themselves (or ask sporadic help from external);

  • After one or more pilot implementations, rollout to all directorates will be supported. In 2025, further enhancements are expected with the coming of the shERPa SI Partners for build & implementation, and broadening the functions used in the tool (mining, risk identification, etc);

  • Act as a contact person and escalation point for incidents, problems and service requests regarding the ARIS BPM tool;

  • Ensure the quality, efficiency and cost of the ARIS BPM tool and service provision by the provider;

  • Ensure the permanent availability of documentation and training material ;

  • Ensure the correct integration of the ARIS BPM tool in the entire IT4IT tool landscape, such as Enterprise Architecture tools, Identity & Access Governance tools, Enterprise Data Lakes, Enterprise Risk Mgt tools, etc;

  • Other tasks and responsibilities such as project support, participating in different meetings, keep the own knowledge up-to-date and coach colleagues, ...

Job requirements


  • At least 2 years of relevant experience with implementing and operating ARIS with emphasis on technical improvements & integration with other tools;

  • Very analytical and problem solving mindset ;

  • Knowledge of a broad set of BPM tool functionalities (modelling, workflows, mining, analytics, ...), and experience with BPML, Archimate, IT for IT, ...

  • In-depth knowledge of/experience with managing complex interfaces of ARIS with other applications;

  • Basic knowledge of project management and governance methodologies;

  • Basic knowledge of ITIL;

  • Good knowledge of Dutch and/or French, and good knowledge English;
